For medical experts
Your expertise, without the admin
We take care of the administration around each instruction: records, appointments, chasing and billing. You focus on the clinical work and your report, in a free portal built for medico-legal work.
What we handle for you
Less paperwork, more time for clinical work
- Records. The records the instruction needs are on the case for you, sorted, paginated and indexed.
- Appointments. You set your availability; claimants book, confirm or rearrange through a secure link, and reminders are sent for you.
- Chasing. We follow up with solicitors for missing documents and answers, so you do not have to.
- Billing. We bill the solicitor, and you are paid through the platform.
Your portal
Everything in one place, at no cost to you
Instructions, availability, records, reports, questions and payments, with no software to buy.
Our secure portal is launching soon. Until then, instruct us by email and we’ll keep you updated on each case.
Accept instructions
See each instruction’s terms and your fee before you accept, and accept or decline each one.
Your diary, your way
Set the days, times and venues you work, and remote appointments where the claim type allows.
Records in a secure viewer
Read the records online in a secure, watermarked viewer, without keeping copies on your own computer.
An AI-prepared index and summary
A records index, chronology and summary prepared to save you time finding your way. Always yours to verify against the records.
Upload your report
Use our template for the claim type or your own format. We check it before release and come back to you if anything is missing.
Part 35 questions
Questions reach you through the portal with the deadline shown, and you answer them there.
Payments
Paid through the platform on the terms in your expert agreement, with every payment due shown to you.
Your opinion, never altered
AI never forms or changes your opinion, and nor do we. Your report is yours, signed under your duty to the court.
Help from your assistant
Invite a secretary or assistant and choose exactly what they may do for you.
Starting out
New to medico-legal work?
The main things you need to act as a medical expert witness are:
- Registration with your regulator, such as the GMC or HCPC
- Real expertise in the field you would report on, usually several years at senior level
- An understanding of the court rules and your duty to the court
- Expert witness training: not a legal requirement, but recommended and expected by most instructing firms
Read our guide to becoming a medical expert witness
Who can do the work, your duty to the court, the rules, what goes into a report, the practical set-up and a route in seven steps.
You can apply to join our panel before you have finished expert witness training. Tell us where you are, and we will tell you what we need.

Questions
Questions experts often ask
How long does the application take, and what will I need?
Please allow about ten minutes. It helps to have to hand your professional registration details, a summary of your specialty and practice, your medico-legal experience and training, and your CV to upload.
Can I apply before I have completed expert witness training?
Yes. You are welcome to apply before you have completed training in CPR Part 35 and the duties of an expert witness. Your training certificate is needed during onboarding, before you accept instructions.
How soon will I hear from you?
Probita reviews every application and will contact you within five working days.
Is there any cost to join?
No. There is no cost to join the panel. The expert portal costs you nothing, and there is no software to buy or install: you sign in from your web browser.
Why is there an introductory call?
It gives us both the opportunity to discuss the work you would like to take, how instructions are offered and how we work together, and to answer any questions you have before your application is approved.
Do I have to accept every instruction?
No. Each instruction is offered to you with its terms, including your fee. You accept or decline each one, and confirm you have no conflict when you accept.
How and when am I paid?
Paid through the platform on the terms in your expert agreement. You can see each payment due to you in the portal.
Can I rely on the AI records summary?
It is there to save you time finding your way around the records, not to replace reading them. You review it against the source records, and your report rests on your own reading and examination, under your duty to the court.
Will anyone change my opinion?
No. Your opinion is yours alone. AI never forms or changes it, and our checks before release look only at completeness and accuracy, such as whether the questions asked have been answered and the Part 35 statements are present. If something is missing, we come back to you; we never edit your conclusions.
Can my secretary or assistant help?
Yes. You can invite an assistant and choose exactly what they may do for you, such as managing your diary or uploading your reports. You can change or remove their access at any time.
How is my information used?
